BUNT KWIATÓW: Iza Szostak, „Skaj is the limit”

[ENG BELOW] W latach 90. w Polsce otwarte zostały granice, wyobraźnia, nowe kanały telewizyjne i wolny rynek. Myśli polskiego społeczeństwa przecinały ostre jak żyletki Tiger Safety marzenia o sukcesie. Tym z dostępem do nesesera, futer z sobola i aut z napędem wielu koni mechanicznych udawało się bardziej, innym musiały wystarczyć kryształowe żyrandole z plastiku, skajowa sofa z kompletem puf i żeniona amfetamina.
 
Transformacja to okres przejściowy, kiedy poprzedni system już nie działa, a nowy nie został jeszcze wdrożony. Transformuje się ciało społeczne, ciało polityczne i ciało fizyczne. W Skaj is the limit Iza Szostak queeruje transformacyjne archiwum. Projektuje nienormatywną rzeczywistość, w której podmioty decydują się żyć poza reprodukcyjnym czasem heteronormy.
Performans doinwestowuje porażkę i słabość. Przyjmuje optykę dóbr luksusopodobnych, wszechobecnych, żywych świadków historii.
Premierowy pokaz odbył się w ramach programu Zamku Ujazdowskiego Rezydencje choreograficzne w 2019 realizowanego we współpracy z Instytutem Muzyki i Tańca.
 
Performans zostanie zaprezentowany dwa razy: 10 i 11 czerwca o godzinie 20.00.

Skaj is the limit jest rezultatem kolejnego etapu pracy Izy Szostak nad projektem (poprzednie odsłony zatytułowane WannaBe#1 i WannaBe#2 prezentowane były w zeszłym roku w Pradze i Warszawie). Tym razem przygotowania trwały pięć tygodni i obejmowały pracę nad materiałem choreograficznym, kostiumem oraz tekstem, konsultacje i warsztaty.

The 1990s in Poland saw the opening of borders, imagination, new TV channels, and the free market. The thoughts of Polish society were cut through with dreams of success as sharp as the Tiger Safety razor blades. Those who had a smart briefcase, a sable fur coat and a powerful car were seen to be successful; others had to make do with crystal chandeliers made of plastic, an artificial leather (in Polish called “skaj”) sofa with a matching footstool, and cut amphetamine.
Transformation is a transition stage, when the previous system no longer works and the new one has not yet been fully implemented. The body of society, the political body and the physical body are all being transformed. In Skaj Is the Limit, Iza Szostak queers the transformation archive. She has designed a non-normative reality, in which objects choose to exist outside the reproductive time of the heteronorm. The performance validates failure and weakness, taking the viewpoint of fake luxury goods – ever-present, living witnesses to history. 
Skaj Is the Limit is the result of Iza Szostak’s most recent work on the project (the previous editions, called WannaBe#1 and WannaBe#2 were presented in Prague and Warsaw last year). This time round, the research took five weeks and involved work on choreographic material, costumes and texts, as well as consultations and workshops.
The presentation was a part of the program Choreography Residences in Ujazdowski Castle 2019, carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Music and Dance.

The performance will be presented twice: on June 10th and 11th at 8 pm.
